Educators in the Dawson County School System take pride in the educational opportunities they provide your children.  The staff is committed to seeking continually to improve instruction and all components of the school’s educational process.

It is hoped that as a parent you will become involved in our improvement efforts as we continue to set high expectations and to monitor student achievement.  You are encouraged to get to know your child’s teacher and the class routines and expectations.

Guidance C-6, as Required by The Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act of 1965 (ESEA) [Section 1111(6) (A)], is the parent’s right to know the qualifications of his/her child’s teachers.  We are proud of the professional credentials of Dawson County’s teaching staff and are prepared to furnish to you upon request the professional qualifications of any of your child’s teachers.  The information you may obtain includes the following:

  • Whether or not the teacher has met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,

  • Whether or not the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status, and

  • The bachelor’s degree major of the teacher and any graduate degree or certification held by the teacher in the field or discipline of his/her certificate or degree.

Further, you may know the qualifications of any paraprofessional who provides services to your child.
